Our Story

A dynamic duo with a difference…

Pascal van Kan

Pascal was the boy at school who lived for sport. Loved it. Couldn’t get enough of it. He had a natural aptitude and left school at 16 to pursue a career in professional golf. He hasn’t looked back since and as a keen cyclist and tri-athlete, is often found training for grueling events such as the Busselton Ironman Triathlon.

With over 18 years in the fitness industry, Pascal is a highly experienced trainer with a unique talent for connecting with clients of all ages and backgrounds – teaching, motivating and finding out what makes people tick. He makes exercise attractive, effective and accessible for all.

Not your stereotypical trainer, Pascal often surprises new clients by chatting about his latest wine discovery or favourite restaurant. He enjoys everything from a well-cooked steak to a Moroccan tagine to Chinese roast duck and is on a life long quest to discover the perfect macchiato. Pascal admires the style of Jamie Oliver and likes to think that he can bring the same common sense, down to earth approach to exercise.

Pascal is the communicator and ‘face’ of the business. You will find him taking classes, working directly with companies and talking about the Équilibre philosophy at every opportunity.

Nicole van Kan

Nicole was the smart girl at school who would do just about anything to get out of phys-ed. Hated it, had no ability or interest. Who would have thought that years later she would meet and marry a sports-mad, personal trainer? Not her, that’s for sure.

Nic has a law degree and has worked in fields as diverse as finance and publishing, but her real passion is food. Reading about it, cooking with it and eating it. She has been known to read cookbooks rather than novels before bed and is renowned for rarely cooking the same recipe twice. To Nicole, cooking is a form of creative expression and she believes that stirring a risotto with love and a glass of wine in hand is the best kind of therapy.

It is Nic’s mission to inspire others to take an interest in what they and their families are eating, to ditch the diet for good and to embrace real food – a wide variety of wholesome, quality ingredients that can be prepared simply, with a little care and planning. All from the perspective of a busy working mum of 2 little foodies, so you know her advice has been well-tested.

Nic is the writer and planner of the business. You will find her busily working behind the scenes, organising special events, researching latest cooking trends and developing exciting seasonal menu plans.
